As we head into the holiday season, we are celebrating all the things for which we are so very grateful this year.Â
At the top of the list are all our volunteers! Without the individual and corporate group volunteers who faithfully prepare, pack, and deliver our weekend hunger bags, we would never be able to serve our area’s most vulnerable kids. The work you do is the heart of our organization, and we cannot say enough thank you’s to express how MUCH we appreciate each and every one of you.
Of course, all this costs money, and we are deeply grateful to all the donors, sponsors, and grantors who gave so generously to meet the rising demand in our community. Never before have we served so many kids, but the escalating cost of food and the increasing numbers of requests for help from our schools means we’ve had to ask everyone to dig deeper into their pockets this year. To everyone who dug deep and pulled out additional funds, thank you. Every kid who arrived at school on Mondays this year fed and ready to learn thanks you.Â
We especially want to thank our partner-level sponsors for this year’s Winter Wonderland Gala – Brighton Jones and Susman Godfrey – whose support is making our biggest fundraising event of the year possible. Have you purchased your tickets yet? There are only a handful left, so act fast.
We also want to shout out to all the community organizations who have offered us so much support over the course of the year:  Yanni Gourde and the Seattle Kraken, Starbucks, the Seattle Mariners, Ascend Hospitality Group, Everfree NW, Georgetown Brewing Co., Red Robin, SoftChoice, Mioposto, the Hot Stove Society, Seattle Marathon, and Greek Fest. Thank you for partnering with us in creative ways both big and small, for bringing awareness of the crisis of weekend hunger to your customers, and for every dollar donated to help buy food. We love that so many members of our community are willing to band together to END weekend hunger for homeless and food insecure kids in King County.
And to all our supporters, anyone who has touched our organization this year, whether sending a one-time donation, hosting a private fundraiser, packing a single bag, or even just telling your community about us and our mission, we appreciate you. Every child in King County deserves a fair chance to succeed, and you are instrumental in helping those children get the food they need to be healthy, happy, and successful for a lifetime.Â
THANK YOU to everyone, and Happy Thanksgiving!
