Happy New Year! Can you believe it’s already 2025? We are so excited for the coming year, as we already have a slate of exciting events and partnerships lined up. Make sure you bookmark our events page on the website to keep track of all of our upcoming activities or follow us on social media (we are on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Linked In, and X) for announcements and updates.
As the new year begins, we are thinking about our goals and plans. Several years ago, the Board of Directors created a strategic 5-year plan for our growth and development, and this year, 2025, is Year 2. We already serve 102 schools in five school districts across King County. Our goal for Year 2 is to expand to an additional five school districts in King County, serving an additional 2,300 kids. In this, Washington’s most populous county, we are already serving over 5,000 kids who face insecurity every weekend. This year, we want to serve even more.

Ambitious? Yes, unquestionably. But we don’t think that’s impossible. King County is Washington’s wealthiest, and we know that there are donors and organizations here that can help us reach this goal. After all, the kids we serve go to school with our kids; their families live next door to our families; their parents are our colleagues or employees. King County’s residents and corporations are among the state’s wealthiest, and also among the most open-hearted and generous. This year, we are reaching out to everyone who believes that no kid in King County should spend a weekend hungry to join our mission. With your support, this goal is no longer ambitious – it’s 100% achievable.Â
But right now, we are at the starting line, and we are eager to get going. We have a fun fundraiser coming up in January, ticket sales starting on January 2nd. And in February, we’re kicking off the Give From the Heart Campaign, which will raise $20,000 to purchase food for the remainder of the school year. Also in February, we host an educational luncheon on the importance of coming together to ensure a better future for our community's kids featuring Dr. Ben Danielson. All ticket sales will be announced on social media and our website, so make sure you're following along. Summer brings a wealth of activities for the outdoor enthusiasts among us: we are hosting our very first 5K Fun Run on May 31st and our first Golf Tournament on August 8th, so mark your calendars now. If you or your organization is committed to helping reduce food insecurity in our community in a bigger way, contact Katrina Cameron, our Director of Development, for sponsorship opportunities.Â
With a full calendar, a full roster of kids to serve, and a full pantry, we are ready to start 2025 off right. We hope you’ll join us this year, whether as a donor, a sponsor, a volunteer, or just to attend an event or two. We welcome every member of this community to join our fight to END weekend hunger for homeless and food insecure kids in ALL of King County. We’re putting it out there to the universe – now let’s get going!
